Contact David

David C. Kniess, Jr., a Connecticut native, served in the United States Navy as a Boatswain's Mate aboard the USS Normandy, a guided missile cruiser.  Upon his discharge, he enrolled at Southern Connecticut State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Television Production.

Mr. Kniess has worked in both film and television, including ESPN Networks, Fox Sports Net, the History Channel, and the Fox News Channel.  He currently works as an editor and producer for DIRECTV in Los Angeles.

Mr. Kniess had a chance meeting with Corporal Dunham on a flight east.

"I was taken by his sense of spirit, it really shined, you know. He was one of those guys you wanted as a friend. We said our goodbyes, I told him to stay safe, and he kind of just smiled and grinned as if to say, "No sweat." That's the kind of kid he seemed to be... no worries, happy go lucky."

After becoming aware Corporal Dunham's death, David felt he needed to do something to honor Corporal Dunham's service and sacrifice. He enlisted the help of Neil Joseph Kenny, a Marine who served during the Siege at Khe Sanh. Hence, the Corporal Jason L. Dunham Memorial Scholarship Foundation was born.

David resides in Los Angeles with his wife, daughter, and son.
